Benefits of a Fire Alarm

The saying “Prevention is better than cure” may just be too cliché, but it is also the rule that surrounds the use of fire alarm and smoke alarms.

Everyone has experienced the old school fire drills at least once in their lives. This could have been implemented in your school or in your community. What happens is the school principal or the town mayor instructs everyone to run as far as they can outside their houses once they hear a familiar ringing. The sirens that they hear are actually those of a fire alarm that’s recommended to be installed in every house. But why are fire alarms special?

Fire alarms are lifesavers in every case of unforeseen fire accidents. Most of the time, people tend to become too oblivious of what’s happening inside a house, either because they are asleep, or just preoccupied by many other things. They wouldn’t notice the bad smell of the smoke at first because of the strong gas found in flames that are able to numb your sense of smell. Just imagine not having a fire alarm inside your house. You not only risk your own chances of survival, but you are also risking the safety of your whole family. A fire alarm, therefore, is very advantageous.

Aside from this, fire alarms are best to get your neighbour’s attentions. Since there is little chance of survival once the house is already consumed by fire, your neighbours will be the ones who will come to your rescue. Like the mechanisms of most house alarms, fire alarms also work on the assumption that their neighbours will be the ones to notify the police. The fire alarms are loud enough to catch the attention of the houses close to the victims’.

Before you consider buying a fire alarm, you should consider putting up a smoke alarm first. As said before, prevention is better than cure. With smoke alarms, you will be notified immediately of possible causes of fire in the future. This way, you will be able to monitor the development of the fire before it becomes too big and consume your house.

Aside from smoke alarms, you should also invest in fire extinguishers. They are also considered good prevention methods. Since there are cases wherein the fire happens at night when most people have already gone to bed, the fire alarms wouldn’t be able to immediately notify neighbours. Fire extinguishers may work as a good equipment to give people enough time to run outside of the house. Smoke alarms and fire extinguishers work best with a fire alarm.
